The Loyola School - Providing Hope for Youth, Women, and the Community of Rerua
The Loyola School and the adjoining Peter Arrupe Center are part of the Rerua Mission, which spans over 1200 square miles.
This mission was started in 2004 by Father Walter A. Kongari, S.J.
to serve the Santhal Tribal people of East Singhbhum District in Jharkhand State,
India.
The principal ministries of the Peter Arrupe Center are:
- Education, including Adult Literacy
- Social Services and Health Care
In 2005, the Loyola School opened to provide education to the boys and girls of the region. In a village where most children are hungry, uneducated, and lack the basic necessities, the Loyola School offers a place of hope and a place to learn.
